My Top 10 Lockdown Films...

More than ever, we may have all become too familiar with that feeling when you settle down to choose a movie and spend endless amounts of time scrolling through recommendations and suggestions that are just not taking your fancy- my boyfriend will confirm that I am this person all of the time haha! This post is here to fix just that. For all genres, moods and genders, this list includes some of the films that I would go back to, to watch over and over again. So, please take your pick and get the popcorn at the ready!

Grease (1978)

Amazon Prime

What a crowd pleaser! Sometimes you just need a good sing and dance-a-long in your living room and that is what this film is all about. If you haven't seen it, then what are you doing? And if you have, then I would totally go ahead and watch it again.

22 July (2018)

This film is based on real life events concerning the Norway terror attacks on a teen youth camp. I was totally gripped. The film had me engaged throughout, with disturbing and some horrific moments it really was spine-tingling to watch. Executed brilliantly, it is not only informative but really will hold your interest. Not one that will disappoint.

Extraction (2020)

New as a Netflix original, this was a recent watch with my boyfriend and it certainly entertained us both. The plot follows a rescue mission of a kidnapped son of a renowned criminal, whilst developing the relationship between the two main characters, which I really enjoyed watching. It is ideal for anyone looking for a face-paced film, with some wicked action stunts. If anything, it stars Chris Hemsworth so if that doesn't make you want to watch, then I don't know what will!

Me Before You (2016)

Netflix & Amazon Prime

Now, I remember going to see this film when it was first released in cinemas, having basically cried the whole way through it. If you are a true-romantic at heart, this is a must watch, concentrating on an unexpected relationship between a man who needs caring for and his carer. But be warned, you will need to have your tissues to hand!

Green book (2018)

Amazon Prime

There is no surprise that this is an award-winning film. It is about the journey of the two main characters and it addresses some key racial inequalities, whilst educating the viewer on the prevalent 1960s racism in South America. I thought this was a fitting recommendation for reminding people of the consequences of racial injustice. The film brings racism to the forefront of peoples minds, but also has some comedic moments which contribute to the characters relationship.

Girls Trip (2017)

Amazon Prime

This film is all about the girlfriends. You get to witness the absolutely hilarious antics of a typical girls holiday away. Such an easy watch and one that is definitely a 'mood-lifter'.

iRobot (2004)

Amazon Prime

In short, this film is Will Smith as a detective tackling some rogue robots. Most of you may have seen this film, but it was a new discovery for me during lockdown and I loved it. The plot was easy to follow and it fulfilled the brief of entertaining me for a couple of hours.

Daddy's Home (2015)

Netflix & Amazon Prime

I love this film! I normally find my cheeks aching after watching it, because it encompass the true meaning of comedy. It concerns, what can be, quite a relatable topic as a step father tries to be the "best Dad ever" to his step children, but this causes problems when their biological Dad comes back into their lives.

Law Abiding Citizen (2009) 18 rating

Netflix & Amazon Prime

NOT one for the faint hearted. This film tells the story of a man who is driven by avenging the people that murdered his family. The plot is extremely clever and for me it was certainly one of those films, where I didn't even want to go to the toilet, in case I missed something. The gore and violence was a hook for me, but I understand that this movie may not be for everyone.

The Greatest Showman (2017)

Amazon Prime

Of course this made the list! Too many things that I love about it that if I listed them all, we would be reading this blog post into next week. But if you're looking for the perfect way to escape reality, at least for a while, then give this a go.

I'd love to hear some of your favourites, so please drop them in the comments down below!
